The mission of the Development and Engagement Initiative in Asia (DEI in Asia) is to actively promote and encourage the balanced personal, educational and professional development of individuals, engage them in human understanding and civic responsibility with a strong moral and ethical foundation, and assist them in their endeavors to have a positive impact in their community from a local to a global scale.

To this end, DEI in Asia in involved in several projects both current and pending, including the following. Click on each program title to learn more.

    Current Projects

  • Student Services Program - research and development of a student services program promoting psychological, spiritual, intellectual, physical and social well-being as well as greater intercultural understanding and engagement for institutions of higher education in Asia
  • Resource Development for Issues of Relationship Abuse and Sexual Assault - develop online resources to educate and raise awareness on issues of relationship abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault, and to provide specialized training for counselors to deal with these common but oft unspoken issues

  • Prospective Initiatives

  • Internship Scholarship for Enterprising Chinese Minority College Students - provide educational and internship scholarships to assist promising students with the desire to have a positive impact on international relations or the welfare of their local community
  • Minority Project Initiative Grant for Rural Areas in Asia - provide development grants, microloans, and resources for project initiatives in Asia that will promote social, economic, educational, spiritual, or environmental welfare
  • School Counseling Initiative Program - initiate a standardized program to enhance the effectiveness of school counselors at Japanese high schools in an effort to encourage students to seek out counseling services, educate students about a variety of psychological issues that commonly occur in Japanese society, break down social stigmas about such issues and create a greater social understanding of these very real issues, how they affect people, and accepted methods of treatment
